2024 Gag Grouper Season To Open September 1st. NOAA Fisheries has announced the re-opening of the popular Gag Grouper season in Federal waters in the Gulf of Mexico effective September 1st, and will remain open through September 15th. The minimum size limit for Gag is 24 inches total fish length, with a two fish daily bag limit per person.
