For the sixth time since 2009, the Team SURE LURE brought home the title trophy for Women’s World Champion as the 2016 Cobia World Championships sponsored by Harbor Docks (Destin, FL) came to an end May 8th. The Cobia World Championships tournament is an annual event held from mid-March through early May where Cobia enthusiasts from throughout the region compete to target the migrating fish (a/k/a Ling or Lemon Fish). During this year’s 51-day tournament, the 79.8 lb fish caught by Pam Dana of the Team SURE LURE was the second largest fish weighed in during the tournament and top fish in the Women’s Division.
Active competitors in the numerous Cobia tournaments held throughout Northwest Florida each Spring, the Team SURE LURE have amassed an array of trophies and prize money over the years to include the title of 2012 Cobia World Champions with a 93.7 lb Cobia. In addition to securing the Women’s World Championship title, the Team SURE LURE (comprised of Captain Don Dineen, Tom Banachowicz, and Pam Dana) also took 3rd Place Big Fish Overall as well as Top Lady Angler in the 2016 Pensacola Outcast Cobia Classic (43 day tournament), as well as 3rd Place Big Fish in the 2016 Boshamps’ Destin Flathead Classic (4 day tourney). Their top 3 big fish weighed an aggregate total of 211.4 lbs.
